Agree partially with your comment about buy with cash & flip, but with the current uncertainty and a housing market that has slowed down, I'd be checking if I could invest my money elsewhere in a far more liquid asset, for a likely better return and not nearly as much hassle.

Had a begging post from either Crisis or Shelter (don't recall which) come up on my Facebook home page. Loads of comments saying how wonderful the charity was and how they gave money to it. I went on the charities jobs web page - copied the link to a £60k+ pa job and sent it to 50-odd of the people commenting telling them this is what your money is paying for and they are taking you for a mug. Didn't actually take long with copy/paste. Think that charity has blocked me now! :-)

While one of my tenants once had a dog which caused no problems, in general terms, Jo is totally right. My Mother works for the RSPCA and can vouch for shelters still being overwhelmed and a large number of people (tenant/non-tenant split not recorded) pleading for help with vet bills.

All very laudable to (finally) create a court system that is fit for purpose, but what happens after Section 21 goes and the court system slides back into the current chaos?

Think you guys have forgotten that it is our fault if it rains on a renters or activists birthday! Wonder how much the staff of these activist groups are being paid? When I had adverts for Crisis or Shelter (Don't recall which) pop up on my Facebook home page I checked out the jobs they had available. More than one paying over £50k. I picked one, then posted the link to it in comments to all the people (individually) who were saying how they supported the organisation and how wonderful it was and telling them they were being taken for mugs. Strangely I don't get any ads like that pop up now!

A good deal of truth in the comments about Lloyds having an interest in talking down the markets. I think the reality is that no-one knows, and almost everyone can take the evidence that suits them and put an advantageous (for them) spin on it. I seem to recall Covid was going to lead to a property price crash according to some. Remind me - what happened there.....?

A depressingly accurate post Robert. Seems like the current Government is only slightly less left-wing than the parties seeking to replace it. :-(

I don't mind the Govt' shooting themselves in the foot - it seems to be one thing they are good at, but I'd rather we didn't get shot in the foot (and stabbed in the back) first.

We do have excellent laws against discrimination. Shame where us LLs are concerned there are laws in favour of discrimination instead.

Good advice Andrew. I've been doing that for a long time with payments (even just a penny confirms the account). Quick and easy to do and could one day prevent a horror story like the one we've just read.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for hitting bad landlords who undercut the good and give the industry a bad name, but it is Interesting that councils (and central govt') have hammered good landlords as well as bad for years and are now asking for help (on their terms of course). Yes Jahan, quite right. "Council employees seem to be of a certain type. Deluded!"

Sceptical? Possibly, but more likely realistic.

Are home owners second class citizens? I think we all know the answer to that these days... :-(
