TSB removes mortgage application fees

TSB has scrapped the mortgage application fee from all its products, including buy-to-let deals.

Aside from the removal of the mortgage application fee, which used to cost £265, TSB has also launched a range of new product fee-free three-year fixed-rate mortgages, including buy-to-to-let products, with rates starting from less than 2%.

Roland McCormack, mortgage intermediary director at TSB, said: “The removal of the mortgage application fee on all our products and the introduction of new product fee-free fixed rate mortgages is good news for borrowers.

“The changes we’ve made will help homeowners borrow well across the property ladder.”

Last month, TSB cut its interest rates across a range of fixed and tracker rate mortgages for homebuyers, buy-to-let landlords and those seeking to remortgage, as competition between mortgage providers continues to hot up, with landlords now having access to some of the cheapest ever buy-to-let mortgages deals.

What’s more, there has been a sharp rise in the volume of buy-to-let mortgage products available, with recent research by Mortgage Brain revealing that there are close to 1,900 mortgage deals on the market.
