Landlord fined more than £9,000 for various offences

A landlord who was convicted of multiple building regulation offences and for failing to disclose information in relation to ownership of a property has been ordered to pay £9,200.

Delbag Singh Fagura, of Clifton Road, Wolverhampton, was convicted of nine building regulation offences, including a number of breaches of fire precautions at the property, and for failing to disclose homeownership information as required by law despite multiple requests from the local council.

The offences relate to a six flat property Singh Fagura lets out in Telford and followed an inspection by Telford & Wrekin Council's building regulation team.

Singh Fagura had denied the charges at an earlier hearing at Telford Magistrates Court but was convicted of all offences by magistrates.

For the 10 offences, the court fined Singh Fagura £3,000. He was also ordered to pay £6,000 in legal costs to the Council and a £200 victim surcharge.
