New app to help cut legal costs between landlords and tenants

A new app has been launched with a view to reducing the legal costs involved with disputes between landlords and tenants.

LegalDefence, a subscription-based legal service which also reduces the legal costs involved in buying a property and disputes between homeowners and their neighbours, is provided by LegalShield and consumer law firm, Slater and Gordon.

House buyers, homeowners and renters will be able to tap into advice from a qualified legal adviser via their smartphones on matters relating to their property purchases, landlord disagreements and neighbour disputes such as planning applications, noise levels and land boundaries.

Costing just £24 per month, members can also access self-help legal documents and template legal letters as well as benefit from correspondence produced by a highly qualified lawyer.

In addition, they will be able to use their subscription to the app for a range of other legal matters covering family, employment, motoring, consumer rights and personal injury.

Slater and Gordon will be providing top level legal support through its legal advisers to offer the 24/7 service and members can take advantage of a significant discount of 25% discount on the law firm’s standard legal fees.

Added value features of LegalDefence include an AI-powered Chatbot called Gordon, who is available to answer questions on a multitude of consumer legal matters, including property issues.

LegalShield UK’s managing director, Mike Roberts, commented: “Our service is all about making legal advice around property matters affordable, accessible and accountable.  By harnessing the power of technology and combining it with high level legal expertise from Slater and Gordon, we are putting legal support into the hands of anyone, and everyone knows how much they are paying. It provides a dedicated 24/7 call hotline to your legal advice team about whatever you need, whenever you need it.”

“For an outlay of under £300 per year, 80p per day, LegalDefence will offer house buyers, homeowners and tenants access to a whole range of legal services, not just those related to property - and they can use it as many times as they like. So, if you feel that you have been wrongfully accused of  speeding on your way to see your landlord with whom you are in a dispute with, you can also use LegalDefence for the motoring offence.”
