Samsung teams up with Build To Rent firm to deliver hi-tech homes

Technology colossus Samsung has teamed up with a Build To Rent provider to create what it calls “next generation neighbourhoods” of properties to let.

Samsung and Moda are creating fully furnished tech-enabled apartments in complexes offering communal facilities including lounges, dining rooms, gyms and flexible workspaces.

Samsung’s appliances are featured in every apartment and communal space in Moda’s Angel Gardens neighbourhood in Manchester.

Each unit has a built-in fridge freezer, integrated dishwasher, 50-inch 4K smart TV, induction hob and microwave, while penthouse apartments have higher spec cookers and refrigerators.

“We are committed to continuously innovating with our products and services to allow our customers to build their perfect Smart home to enhance wellbeing. It’s our aim to change the way people live and give purpose to connected living. Collaborating with Moda provides us with a scale portfolio to see where we, and our product range can add the most value”  says Ralf Elias of Samsung.

There is now an agreement in place for more than 60,000 appliances for Moda’s BTR units.

Meanwhile Oscar Brooks, director at Moda Living, adds: “Moda’s core focus is to create stylish, high-quality, sustainable neighbourhoods for residents to live, work and play, but we also recognise the importance of investing in state-of-the-art technology to enhance connectivity, simplicity and efficiency in residents’ day to day lives.

“This year we hosted exclusive socially distanced Samsung screenings on our roof terrace, which have helped tackled loneliness during lockdown and keep our community connected during a difficult time.

“Our number one priority is for technology to help Moda’s residents to feel happy and safe in their home, whilst making their lives that bit easier. The proposition of the Smart home is important for our future residents and will help distinguish our brand from the competition.”

And the monthly rent for these places will be...?

    £1500 for a 2 bed, rising rapidly!

I wonder what kind of cladding these flats will have?

I know we need lots of new builds but I really wouldn't trust any new builds at all. Pity all the Victorian craftsmen are dead!

I don't do developer new builds either, all but 2 of my properties were built in the late 1800s, I have 1 ex council house built 1953 and a bungalow built 1976 by a respected local builder.
