Newcastle upon Tyne has been named the most affordable place to rent in the UK.
According to the research, undertaken by CompareTheMarketcom, the average monthly rent in Newcastle upon Tyne is £567, which is £50 a month less than the £617 per calendar month renters pay on average to live in Leeds, Kingston upon Hull, Sheffield, and Bradford.
Derby (6th), Nottingham (7th), Northampton (8th), Leicester (9th) and Cardiff (10th) complete the top 10.
The study, which aimed to establish the ‘best city to live in as a young adult’, looked at the UK’s most populated towns and cities and what's important to young adults (18-35-year-old) - including costs of rent.
Using a weighted ranking, the top city overall was Edinburgh with a score of 72.05/100. After the Scottish capital comes Reading, Derby, Manchester, then Bristol.
