Special Citizens Advice helpline opens for landlords AND tenants

A Citizens Advice helpline has opened in Wales for both renters struggling with arrears, and for landlords who believe their tenants are in a difficult position.

Citizens Advice Cardiff & Vale, which is operating the service, says it offers free impartial advice and support - the only CA branch to offer such a facility.

The aim is to help people who may be feeling helpless and overwhelmed, to instead feel empowered to get on top of finances and remain in their homes.

The helpline is open Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

A statement from Citizens Advice says: “Whether you are a private rental tenant who is struggling with debt issues, or you are a landlord who has tenants you suspect are struggling, you can call the service free of charge to discuss options and potential solutions.

“The people who call may not necessarily be at the stage of eviction yet, but have found themselves in a difficult position for the first time because of the pandemic, or because of factors surrounding the pandemic, that are leading them to extreme worry about their finances.”

The specialists at the helpline operate on a case by case basis.
