Eco: Landlords can apply for low-carbon heating scheme

The government of Jersey's low-carbon heating scheme, which gives up to £5,000 match funding to help Islanders switch their heating away from fossil fuels, is to be made available to landlords.

Until now, owner-occupied homes were eligible for the support. But from this week landlord-owned properties such as those rented out to tenants are also eligible for the grants.

Landlords can get grants for a maximum of five properties. Social housing providers are also eligible.

The initiative forms part of the Carbon Neutral Roadmap approved by the Jersey government last year saying that heating is the second highest contributor to the Island’s greenhouse gas emissions behind transport.

More details about the scheme are available on www.gov.je/lowcarbonheat

Low-income Islanders – receiving income support, the cold weather bonus, pension plus or the health access scheme – can apply for up to £10,000 without the need to match fund.
