Ridiculous!! The idle and uncommunicative mob at HMRC strike again, just another stick to beat and ultimately no doubt fine us with…. It’s getting less appealing to be a landlord every year!

It’s not the tenants that concern me, providing we can interview them for suitability, it’s the complete lack of support we would get from our council should this go awry. I’m sure we would ultimately have similar issues to Matthew Jude, sorry but on that basis it wouldn’t be for us.

What a stupid suggestion. Who would take ultimate responsibility for breakages , damage etc, who would ensure the room / premises are clean, because it would be highly unlikely to be the tenant . The property should be occupied by the person / family etc to whom the landlord has agreed to rent it to.

Typical jobsworth, spouting off and about something she clearly hasn’t done her homework on as per comments above. Should she and others like her get their way, let’s see how they go about resolving the increase in the current rented housing crisis that will most definitely be a bye product of this…. They wouldn’t have a clue would they , although no doubt that would be the Landlords fault too!

Totally unnecessary and certainly not something that should take priority over other issues such as ensuring that Landlords know where they stand in relation to the Governments other anti- Private Landlord Schemes that they have started and left us in abeyance on…. EPC ratings, scraping of Section 21 etc…..

A great article, to which I fully agree. We have a number of terraced houses within our portfolio which are currently in band D. We do not intend to carry out improvements until the EPC situation is properly clarified by the Government. It is quite disgraceful for both Landlords and Tenants that we are all in limbo!

A self interested / promotion article, clearly not living in the world of the Landlord!

Why doesn’t this Baroness keep her meddling ill-informed nose out of this. The majority of Landlords have either not increased their rents or only done so with justifiable cause brought on by in many cases issues caused by government ignorance or ineptitude and after reasonable discussions with their tenants!

Another MP, out to make a name for themselves spouting rubbish without considering all the facts. I really wonder what the private rental sector has done to make these clowns come out with the comments they do? These properties belong to us, we have ever increasing bills to pay, partially because our MP’s were not clever or quick enough to react to the cost of living crisis early enough by authorising the alternatives such as open cast mining etc. It is our right to obtain as much rental income for our properties as someone is prepared to pay.

Do gooders with no idea of the real world we live in…. Why should some charity dictate what we do with what belongs to us….. Keep your interfering noses out of our business !

At last someone realising the part we play and that the majority of us are not ‘rogue landlords’! As many of you say however..will anybody listen!

Totally agree with both Sandra and Tricia’s point, four of our properties do not currently meet the proposed new regulations, however why begin spending unnecessary money when it is merely a proposal at present and nobody can give us any guidelines as to what we need to do, add in that our local council, Sheffield, has no idea as to whether there will be any grants made available ( which we may miss out on if we act to early…).

Clearly a person not living in the real world, generically targeting landlords as one, whilst at the same time not looking for a route to help us resolve these issues in an economical manner that does not result in a high proportion of landlords having to sell their properties.

Why the assumptive article when the bill has not been passed yet? Clearly I understand that a requirement of some sort and deadline, however nobody within our so called government or indeed useless council can offer any guidance or expertise into how we will be able to bing our properties up to speed without spending ridiculous monies? I wonder what the response will be when these properties all hit the market and evictions begin as landlords begin to cut their losses?

I think this comment is very pot, kettle, black…we have put off a number of rent increases on some of our properties over the past two years to help our tenants , whilst similar properties come onto the market around us with significant higher rents, however as per everyone’s previous comments, we are shown no sympathy by the utility companies, supermarkets etc and the local council are a complete waste of time particularly in relation to EPC assistance and of course holding firm on council tax increases, there comes a time when we have no choice..it’s the law of the jungle I’m afraid !

What a short sighted fool....clearly doesn't live in the real world, how can individual's like him have a voice that government's should listen too? I agree that where possible Landlord's should help where they can during this pandemic, however for many of us this is our living, he needs to crawl back under his shell!
