I just had the EPC renewed on a 1929 built 3 bed semi, with solid brick walls, A rated boiler, fully double glazed, uprated loft insulation and low energy lighting. To move that from a D to a C rating apparently requires the concrete floor slab to be dug up and relaid with 150mm insulation, that involves removing the kitchen and cloakroom, demolishing and rebuilding internal walls, and then adding another layer to the external elevations. Estimated cost in excess of 60k with maximum potential savings of £350 a year. I had solar heating in another house, that cost £6k to install, potential savings of £90 a year wiped out by the cost of running the pump and the annual service charge to keep the warranty in place - completely pointless.

I just had a D rated EPC issued on a 1929 built semi with double glazed windows, A rated boiler, LED lighting and well insulated loft To achieve a C it will require the concrete floor taking up and relaying with 150mm insulation and adding an insulated layer of construction over the external brick walls. Estimated to cost £60k and be 3 months work - maximum potential savings of £400 a year. Do the maths, why would anyone do it.

Just had EPC renewed on 1930s semi with D rating - same as every other property of that age in the area according to assessor. Has LED lighting, loft insulation was upgraded , just had new boiler and controls, DG windows and doors. To achieve C apparently will involve digging up concrete floor slab and relaying over layer of insulation and adding another layer to solid brick external walls... estimated max energy saving of £200 a year.. rough cost of job £ 30 - 35k 3 - 4 months work

That's the aim, the already rich get richer at the expense of everyone else - follow the money, huge amounts of tax payers money goes in subsidies to wind power and gets siphoned into off shore accounts,

Flawed thinking and policies in every way, but pandering to the green lobby wins votes so the government is led by the nose, Sadly, common sense doesn't apply.
