“Yet many landlords stick with letting agents who don't do a great job for them, overcharge them for maintenance, double-charge them and tenants for the same work, and upset tenants with demands for unfair fees." We do none of the above, that statement offends me

There is no difficulty in buying a house my daughter did it on minimum wage with left over savings from uni. The south may have issues but these changes are going to cripple the north. As an agency we charge £99 for everything nothing hidden. Other agents charge more, tenants are free to shop around. Whats the issue there ? As a small 12 property Landlord built over 25 years from nothing sacrificing holidays etc. Margins are being cut so far i make less than min wage at that. Universal credit - what muppet came up with that one

We do the lot for £99 no hidden extras and no other fees but doing possibly multiple references if one fails doesnt seem fair on us

Phil, Ive lost £45k since 2006. Yes theft of my wage, which often equals min wage. Recently took one as far as attachment of earnings, upon the employer getting the paperwork they instantly sacked him, so still no £ recovered just more court fees thrown at it. We just used the so called accelerated process, 3 months....

Now lets have a faster and cheaper process. With housing benefit no passed to Landlords treated as fraud or theft and some real route to recover lost rents.

You will also find it hard or impossible to borrow in a limited company without trading for a while

With 10 properties i make less than minimum wage and thats taken 25 years of sacrifices and hard work. Profits further eroded every month by legislation. £45k of lost rents (since 2006) with no chance of recovery. In any other field this would be theft and a crime, yet all i can do is throw more cash away to the courts. They is no body with any balls fighting for landlords rights. Dont group us with the problems in London it doesnt apply to the north. I detest the rich rogue image far from reality. I ve only ever done two evictions, thousands in lost rent and damage; where is my compensation ?
