A quality piece of research done by some one who knows the PRS but will the Chancellor listen, I doubt it as it would be too damaging to his future political aspirations to back track at this late stage. Lets hope they take the advice and reconsider as government does tend to jump the gun a bit without carrying out proper intensive reviews of some of their actions and yes they can be wrong at times although they would never admit it. Failing a U turn on this policy a lot rests on the Judicial review due shortly on the legality of changing the principle of taxation for the landlord sector but no other sector.

Another point to note if we offer longer tenancies would the government make it easier to evict a tenant if they fall into serious arrears or cause damage as at the moment it can take several months to evict a bad tenant so a bit risky offering longer tenancies if there is no easier or quicker way to evict if a tenant goes bad.

This is typical political crap trying to feather his own nest. Why is it that many politicians that know absolutely nothing about the property market try to con the public into thinking they are doing them a favour when usually its just about getting votes. When are we going to find a politician that has the balls to actually do something right for the property market irrespective of trying to win certain votes. Most of these promises they make never happen and the same with Khans plan, can you imagine the ICO ever allowing a database of bad landlords as who decides what's good and bad and as Peter says above there are many more bad tenants than landlords but that doesn't get any votes.
