Airbnb is linking up with private landlord agency OpenRent to offer reduced-price gas and boiler safety certificates.
The short lets platform says the majority of its listings globally report having a smoke detector, and it has distributed free combined smoke and CO detectors to over 220,000 hosts; now, to mark the UK’s Gas Safety Week, it’s announced its deal with OpenRent.
OpenRent provides gas safety services that can help short let hosts protect their space and give them peace of mind that their gas appliances are working safely and efficiently. A boiler service, which Airbnb says it recommends annually, will help to prolong the life of a boiler, and confirm it’s in good working order.
OpenRent has a nationwide network of over 1,500 vetted Gas Safe registered engineers, and to date has issued almost 100,000 certificates to UK homeowners.
Airbnb hosts can register and purchase your Gas or Boiler Safety Service from OpenRent to get a 10 per cent discount here.
An engineer will be in touch to arrange a date and time that works and once checks are complete, hosts will be sent their Gas Safety Certificate.
Hosts with an active listing on Airbnb can sign up to get a free smoke and CO detector via the Airbnb website.

The self employed gas engineer I use charges me 60 pounds no vat for an inspection and certificate, he;s good and reliaibke I'm very happy with that
The thing is with HMO’s I believe we are required to have Annual Boiler Service as well which involves stripping down the Boiler and going through the lot. It can also be required for modern Boilers that are covered by guarantee just a thought.
please tell me, if I want to buy an airbnb, will its history appear in carcheckvin?
Blocks of Flats which are purpose built are exempt from licensing and what else could they be they were built the purpose of being a Flat.
Another big advantage for the big boys with Blocks of Flats so no licensing required or Section 24 for them, hard to beat a level plain field, not. Do you still feel we are not being targeted, oh by the way Grenfell was a Block of Flats that’s alright then.
A perfect collaboration ? ....gas certificates today....extended stay portal tomorrow ?
